Not a Health Guru · 20 June 2013

The more I know, the more I realize how little I know. The old adage fits me, especially, when it comes to health and fitness.

I have come to this conclusion because one of my sons said that I am a health guru. At least the health guru of our family.

As much as I love the thought and sentiment, I am nowhere near as knowledgeable as I would like to be. In fact, the more I learn about health and fitness, the more I realize that I know so little about my own body, nutrition, and health in general. Even though I have been learning more this year about diet and exercise than I ever have in the past, I know there is so much more to learn.

I suppose that means there is so much more to write as well.

Even so, I am just a storyteller, not a health guru. I try to point people to great sources of information, but I am just writing my own story. Hopefully, my writing is somewhat entertaining at times. And hopefully, it even gives some good information now and then. But just because I have been blogging about health for the past nine months does not make me anything close to being a health expert.

I wish it did.

For if writing my own story about my journey toward health made me a health guru, my son’s assessment could be justified. As it is, I am just proof of the old adage. The more I know, the more I realize how little I know.
