Why Mediocre Man?
My family members have told me that they do not like the fact that I call myself Mediocre Man. They think that it is not very flattering. They think that it belittles me. But I like it. I like it because even though I do not consider myself mediocre, I do think that I am just an average person. I think that I am what some might call an everyman. Which I hope is the draw for people to read my writing. I just write about normal, everyday stuff. I write about the things that an average Joe like myself would notice or think about everyday.
My first book is called Musings of a Mediocre Man. It is an eclectic collection of poetry, short stories, and essays that I wrote when I was in my twenties and published in my thirties. I named it because I like alliterations and could not figure out a catchy title for an average guy just writing about everyday stuff. Musings seemed to fit my writing and mediocre means average so Mediocre Man was born to create the alliterative title, Musings of a Mediocre Man. I use Mediocre Man as the title of my website and will surely put together another book of musings some time in the future.
Lastly, I am sure that you also noticed that Mediocre Man fits my alliterative name (Michael T. Miyoshi) too.
I hope that you find my writing to be more than mediocre. I hope that you find it entertaining. Mostly, I hope that it makes you think about life and what is truly important.
