It Is Not All About Me · 6 March 2013

I have come to the conclusion that this whole God conspiracy thing is not all about me. It is about all of us. God wants us to be healthy.

I have come to this conclusion after reading an email from my Mom. She said that Dad had some chest pains which subsided after taking a nitroglycerin pill. I thought to myself, Dad gave up smoking after his second heart attack when the doctor said his other choice was to die. I wondered. Could he do the same if somebody gave him the same choice when it comes to processed foods, meat, and dairy? Maybe not cut them out completely, but cut way down on them.

That was when I realized. God is not conspiring against just me.

The Bible is God’s love story to us. It tells us that we need to turn to God, our first love. And it tells how He has been conspiring against us to make that happen. Unfortunately, we have turned away instead of giving in to the conspiracy.

The Bible also tells us that we can get all our nutrients from plants. God said:

“Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you.” (Genesis 1:29 NASB)

That does not mean that we cannot eat meat and other foods, but we certainly do not need to do so. God provides for us abundantly. Especially, when it comes to food.

I have been writing about God and food and health for these past six months. During that time, I have heard of friends, relatives, and others who have had health issues that according to many of the books I have read are most likely related to the food we eat and the exercise we do not get. It seems more than coincidental that my message comes when it could mean the most to those I love. That it comes when it could make a significant difference in the way they live.

When it comes right down to it, I do not believe in coincidences. They are just more evidence that God is conspiring to bring us to Him. We can discount a few incidences, but when too many stack up, there must be a conspiracy. That is why after these few months of writing I have come to the conclusion that even though I am getting many benefits, this whole writing, eating, and running thing is not about me.

This whole God conspiracy is about all of us. God wants us to be near Him. And He wants us to be healthy. In many ways it is a relief to find out that this whole God conspiracy thing is not all about me.
