Missing · 18 September 2012

I have noticed a few things missing from my life lately. They are good things to be missing, but who knows how long they will stay away. After all, it is still early in the game and I do not want to draw any conclusions about lasting results. Today, I am going to focus on just a couple of those missing things in my life.

Many years ago, I was told that I had a herniated disk in my lower back. I have occasionally had a little nagging pain. Mainly, my back acted as an alarm clock telling me I had slept too long. When I had been in bed for more than about 7 hours, sleeping or even just lying there, my back would give me a twinge and I would need to get up. I did not really notice until the other day, but it seems I can lie around all day now and not get that wake up call from my back.

The other thing that seems to be missing from my life is achy feet. When I get up, my feet feel a bit odd, but as soon as I have walked a few steps, they feel great. I think they do not know they are supposed to hurt due to the fact that I stand up all day long and have been running. The only problem I have had with my feet lately is that I got stepped on with a cleat a couple weeks ago at football practice. I am still sore from that. Other than that though, my feet have felt great. Not that they hurt lots before, they just feel different than they used to. And they do not yearn to get out of my shoes like they did before.

I do not miss my hurting back or achy feet. Not one little bit. Especially since I have been able to run without them giving me any complaints. I am sure it is mainly due to the fact that my shoes are letting my feet do their job. My feet are stabilizing my whole frame keeping my back in good position and they are getting stronger due to my shoes having no support. The only aches my feet seem to have is the kind muscles get when they have worked out.

It is still too early in the experiment to tell whether these ailments are gone to stay. But as far as I am concerned, my life will be just fine if they stay away forever. For in reality, I am not missing a sore back or achy feet at all.
