Lonely Endeavors · 16 November 2012

Writing, eating, and running can all be lonely endeavors. Maybe that is why I am writing this daily blog. To not feel like I am alone. Or maybe it is to show others that they are not alone.

As a writer, I like to keep my unfinished work to myself. I sometimes even feel embarrassed to say that I write because I do not really have a body of work out there. And saying I have a blog does not make me feel like a very accomplished writer. After all, anybody can create a blog. You just need to be willing to suffer the slings and arrows of critics out there to do so. If you even get any critics.

If I feel that way, I am sure others do as well. Maybe that is why God put this crazy conspiracy together.

If all I was doing was writing for me, I would be okay with that. But what if there were people out there who might benefit from knowing they were not alone in trying to get healthy? What if there were folks who wanted to know they could do something about their desire to change their lives? What if there were people who actually read my blog to give themselves encouragement? Even if there were only a couple people who read my lines and decided that they were not alone, it would be worth the time and effort I have put into this blog. It would be worth it to tell them that they are not alone.

If it sounds like I am feeling sorry for myself, I apologize. I just needed to remind myself of my purpose for writing. It is not all about me. It is about the relationship between my readers and me. Even if there are only a few following my journey to health, they are worth the angst I might feel from writing a few words each day. And truth be told, knowing I have even a few readers makes this whole journey of writing, eating, and running a little less lonely.
